The Mobile World Congress, held in Barcelona from February 26 to March 1, 2018, brings together in a single space the world’s leading companies in the mobile telephony industry and technology in general. This year, over 110,000 visitors are expected to attend the fair.
In this edition of the technological summit, the main companies in the sector worldwide (Samsung, Huawei, Sony, LG) are presenting their new mobile terminals. Among others, the presentation by Samsung of its new device Galaxy S9 and S9 + has been specially important. This mobile phone has artificial intelligence, dual camera in the larger version and customized avatars to provide a more complete user experience than in previous versions.
In addition to the main novelties of mobile telephony, numerous innovations have been exhibited in the technological sector as solutions of artificial intelligence of last generation, flexible screens, latest 5G technology, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain and cybersecurity, among many others.
At a national level, Telefónica has revolutionized the sector by presenting its assistant, AURA. Chema Alonso, Head of Data of the company, and its President, José María Álvarez-Pallete, have been responsible for introducing the attendees to the new platform that is activated by the voice and is capable of analyzing and storing information in real time.

In this edition, the following Digital Certification companies participated in the MWC:
Belgian Mobile ID, BIID, CertiSign, Elliptic Laboratories, Lleida.net, Real Identity Co., SafeLayer, Signaturit, Signen, Signicat, SK ID Solutions, Trusted K, Validated ID, Vasco Data Security and Vintegris.
Likewise, the chip manufacturers Gemalto and G + D were present at the fair.
History of the Mobile World Congress
The Mobile World Congress is the most important event worldwide for the mobile telephony industry and is one of the great platforms for the presentation of breakthrough innovations for the technology sector.
It has an annual character and is celebrated since 2006 in Barcelona (Spain), which for a few days becomes a global showcase for technology. It was previously held in Cannes (France), where it was celebrated for a decade.
This edition of the international congress is expected to generate an economic impact of 471 million euros and 13,000 new jobs in Barcelona.
