Electronic Delivery consists of delivering documents via the Internet, which need a higher level of protection than those physically sent to the addressee.
One of the main advantages of this kind of Delivery is that it is no longer necessary to pick up the physical documents and send them by post, maintaining the same guarantees regarding the identification of the sender and receiver of the message.
However, Regulation (EU) 910/2014 does not establish equivalence between certified (qualified) Electronic Delivery Services and certified postal mail as defined in the Postal Directive. Member States remain free to implement this equivalence at the national level if they so choose.
